ROB DE CASTELLA
BORN: 27th FEBRUARY 1957

Rob de Castella is one of Australia’s most well-loved sporting idols. De Castella is widely known as “Deek” or “Deek’s” to the Australian public, and “Tree” to his competitors due to his thick legs and inner calm.

He was renown in the 1980’s as one of the world’s greatest ever marathon champions. He followed on from his athletic career as the Director of the Australian Institute of Sport. With a strong desire to improve the world around him he freely shared his secrets on achieving goals, health and wellbeing. Making Deek’s an outstanding motivational speaker.

He is currently Director of Deek’s Health foods and most passionately the driving force behind The Indigenous Marathon Foundation. Rob faces diversity bravely, for example, when Rob lost all his worldly possessions in the 2003 Canberra bushfires – Rob immediately responded by setting up working groups to help the rest of Canberra to recover.

If Rob de Castella was a brand he would stand for: motivation – inspiration – integrity – resilience – Health & Wellbeing – community service.
