COACHING AND GROUP SESSIONS TO GET IN SHAPE FOR THE RUN

Set your fitness goals and once entered you can join in for one month free at a range of weekly free group training sessions. Training as a group helps to keep you motivated to achieve your own personal best. Just come along, all abilities welcome. 

The combination of our 5k Sponsor VISION Personal Trainers, Ivanhoe and Hawthorn and de Castella Run Coaching mean we have got your training needs covered with a variety of times and training levels.

FOR SERIOUS RUNNERS – Experienced Run Coach, Anthony de Castella is younger brother of Robert and distance running coach to the Old Xaverians Athletics Club and Hawthorn Triathlon Club. Anthony has been coaching athletes of all abilities for over 15 years. An Athletics Australia Level III distance and middle distance accredited coach.

TUESDAY 6:20PM
XAVIER COLLEGE – Barkers Rd, Kew outside the Stephenson Centre

Session includes 2-4km warm up, session briefing, specific session which is tailored to individual needs, and warm down of 2-4km. These sessions attract between 30 and 60 runners on average and includes beginners, intermediate and advanced runners of all ages.

THURSDAY 6:00PM
THE TAN TRACK – Birdwood Ave (near Park St & Domain Rd opposite Domain Cafe)

The group is divided into two based on goals and fitness levels of the runners;

Group A: TEMPO – Completes a longer run with a tempo section within – mainly aimed at marathon and distance runners

Group B: INTERVAL – Completes a group warm up, followed by an interval or fartlek type session and a group warm down – aimed at middle distance and beginner runners

SATURDAY 8:00AM
THE TAN TRACK Birdwood Ave (near Park St & Domain Rd opposite Domain Cafe)

The group is divided into two based on goals and fitness levels of the runners;

Group A: THRESHOLD: Completes consecutive laps of the Tan with a gradual increase in pace building to threshold pace running. Followed by strides for form and a short warm down run.

Group B:INTERVAL – Completes a group warm up, followed by an interval or fartlek type session and a group warm down – aimed at middle distance and beginner runners

de Castella Run entrants are eligible to one month’s free X-Training sessions twice a week at   Hawthorn or Ivanhoe  Studios to help you get strong and fit for your race!

Vision Runner’s X-Training classes:

Mon    6.30pm (60min session)
Wed    6.00am (30min session)

Hawthorn Studio: Level 1, 767 Glenferrie Rd, Hawthorn

Ivanhoe Studio: 1/137-139 Upper Heidelberg Rd, Ivanhoe

Join in our Runner’s X-Training classes! These classes will not only increase your heart rate but will also build strength and stamina into your muscles to push you up and down the hills of Yarra Boulevard!
