YOU DON'T HAVE TO RUN IT ALONE
Whether you are running with one friend or in a running group, there are many ways runners can benefit from group running including doing wonders to your mental health. Here are a few reasons why group running is great for our mind:
SURROUNDING YOURSELF WITH HEALTHY HABITS
People naturally start to adopt habits of those around them. Spending time with other runners will enforce us to also find healthy habits.
PROVIDING YOU WITH A SENSE OF PURPOSE
Mentoring other runners or being part of a cohesive team can you give a sense of purpose and help you make new and meaningful connections.
MOTIVATION
People naturally start to adopt habits of those around them. Spending time with other runners will enforce us to also find healthy habits.
YOUR VERY OWN CANCELLING SESSION!
It is always a good time to let off some steam when you are running. When running with a group there is always time to ask for some advice. Sometimes it can be a good reality check – we always get weighed down with our own matters but when you start talking to others they might start talking back to you. You might then realise that your problems in the scheme of things aren’t too bad at all!
A SENSE OF BELONGING TO A COMMUNITY
Whether you’re racing together or cheering on your teammates, it’s fun and rewarding to be connected with like-minded people and be part of something that’s bigger than you. When I joined my running group the bond I developed gave me a sense of connection with such a special, tight-knit community.

OUR PARTNERS

Acknowledgement to Country
The de Castella Run acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the traditional custodians of this country and acknowledges their connection to culture, land and community. Our event is on the traditional Country of Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung peoples of the Kulin nation. We thank traditional custodians – past, present and emerging – who care for Country so we get to enjoy its majestic beauty.
